Real Estate Principles is a college level course mandated by the Department of Real Estate as a prerequisite to the state exam. Real Estate Principles consists of topics such as: Disclosures, Appraisal, Laws of Agency, Contracts, Financing and Transfer of Title. Certificates of completion issued upon passing the final test.

As of October 2007, students can apply for the state exam as soon as they have registered for a qualified Real Estate Principles, Real Estate Practice & one other real estate courses before applying for your license.

THE STATE EXAM

The state exam consists of 150 multiple choice questions and you must pass by 70%. Exams are administered in San Diego. The fee to apply for the salesperson exam is $60.00 and sent in with an application to the Department of Real Estate. Once you pass your State Exam, your License will be valid for 4 years of only $245.
